Air Ambulance services in the Philippines

The Philippine economy is the 34th largest in the world. It is a major exporter of agricultural and industrial products which includes coconut oil, and fruits semiconductors and electronic products, transport equipment, garments, copper products, petroleum products. The country has good trade and business relations with all the major trading partners which includes Hong Kong, Germany, Taiwan, and Thailand, United States, Japan, China, Singapore, South Korea, the Netherlands, etc. Agriculture is the primary source of income of the Filipinos, and it employs more than 30% of the manpower. Agriculture-related work is followed by industrial jobs. The economy of the Philippine is slowly transitioning towards industrial development. The major industries which play a pivotal role in contributing to employment are Business process outsourcing and Knowledge Process Outsourcing, due to the low cost of labor as compared to the western countries, the major players prefer to set up their offices in the country. Other industries include animation, IT- BPO, hospitality, tourism, etc.
Transportation by the locals for routine commutation is mostly done by taxis, buses, jeepneys, and motorized tricycles, bicycles, etc. Due to the growing urbanization, many people from the rural areas of the Philippines have migrated to the major cities like Manila, Cebu for jobs and employment.
The fast-growing urbanization in the major industrial cities has also contributed to many types of health hazards and contagious diseases. Tourists at times who come to visit the country, get infected with some of the infectious diseases if adequate precaution is not taken.
Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) is a disease caused in the intestinal tract and is a common bacterial disease. Humans get infected by the disease due to the consumption of contaminated food and water. The Salmonella bacteria lives in the intestines of animal and human and are excreted through feces. Human beings get infected by the disease usually if one consumes raw or under-cooked poultry or poultry products like eggs, meat, egg products. The incubation of salmonella may take a few hours or even two days. Most salmonella infections do not show up any immediate symptoms, and it may start with stomach pain. This disease is also classified as stomach flu (or gastroenteritis).
Typically, people with salmonella infection have no specific symptoms. Some people may show up symptoms like fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps within a few hours to 72 hours. Mostly if the person is healthy, he/she may recover within a few days without any specific treatment.
But there may be some cases, where diarrhea associated with the salmonella infection can be so dehydrating that the person may require prompt medical attention. Life-threatening complications also arise if the infection spreads beyond the intestines.
In one such incidence, a person traveling from India to the Philippines on a business-related trip got infected with Salmonella and got critically ill. Romash worked for a leading BPO firm in India, New Delhi and he traveled to Philippine for business development meetings in Manila and other cities for about eight days. After his sessions, he mostly went out for local sight-seeing and trying out the food in different places in the city. He was very fond of trying out various delicacies in other sites. One day he felt severe uneasiness after he returned to his room in the hotel. Suddenly he suffered from severe abdominal pain, cramps, nausea, and vomiting. He somehow managed to call on the helpline number of the hotel and asked for medical help. A doctor was arranged, who suggested to admit him in a medical center for further check-up and treatment. A few months back, he had suffered from Malaria, and this could be the reason that his immunity was weak and led to getting infected with the disease Salmonella. The doctor arranged to conduct a few tests and which confirmed that he was affected by Salmonella. His office was communicated from his contact numbers, who then communicated to his wife. His wife got in touch with the hospital, who briefed her that his condition was bad as he is suffering from severe diarrhea, chills, and fever. The patient is under observation. Rekha, his wife, wanted to transport her husband back in India and carry out the treatment here as it would be more convenient for the family to take care of him in the home country. The hospital authorities were cooperative, and they conveyed that it can help to arrange  an air ambulance if the family agrees upon. They also provided the contact details of Hi-Flying Air ambulance as the hospital had ties with them. The family immediately contacted the administrative team of the company and briefed them about the condition of the patient. As this hospital was in their tie-up list, it was easier for the Hi- Flying authorities to establish contact and take down the medical history of the patient. The team discussed on the case of Romhas and finalized that he should be flown back by an Air Ambulance as the patient was having severe symptoms, and the disease is contagious so extreme care was required to fly.

Possible signs and symptoms may include:
Abdominal,Cramps, Nausea, Diarrhea,, Vomiting, Fever, Chills, Blood in the stool, Headache, etc

The Signs and symptoms of the salmonella infection generally last for two to seven days. Diarrhea can last up to 10 days, and the person suffers from extreme dehydration and weakness. It may take several months before digestion and the bowels return to reasonable condition.
There are a few varieties of salmonella bacteria those result in typhoid fever, which sometimes can cause death.
Causes
The disease is caused due to Salmonella bacteria that live in the intestines of people, animals, and birds and is excreted through the feces. People get infected when one consumes the food infected by feces. Commonly the foods which get easily infected  include: Seafood, under-cooked meat, eggs, poultry. Feces enter into the raw meat and poultry products during the butchering process. Seafood may get contaminated if they are harvested in the water which is contaminated with the infection
Raw eggs: Raw eggs are used in homemade mayonnaise and hollandaise sauceand some infected chickens produce eggs that contain Salmonella
Fruits and vegetables: cultivated in the water infected with the disease may also be a source of the Salmonella infection.
People who do not maintain proper hygiene and don't wash their hands properly after using the washroom and then touch the food can also cause infection. Infection can also occur if a person touches contaminated beings, including pets, especially birds and reptiles, and then uses his/her hands for eating without cleaning them properly.
Risk factors
Risk of contracting the disease increases if someone comes in close contact with the salmonella bacteria and if someone is already facing some health issues or immunity of a person is low then the chances of getting infected increases.
International travel: Travel to international destinations, particularly places where there is poor sanitation condition, puts a person at risk to get infected with Salmonella infection, which includes bacteria varieties that can cause typhoid fever

.
If a person suffers from stomach or bowel disorders, then the natural immune system of the body is already low. Overall if the person is on medication especially medicines like Antibiotics, which can kill the good bacteria of the stomach promotes the growth of Salmonella bacteria.
The body has it's a natural defense mechanism against salmonella infection. For example, strong stomach acid will help to kill many types of salmonella bacteria. But medical reasons the person is consuming Antacid, it will lower the stomach's acidity and promote the survival of Salmonella bacteria.
Immune problems:If a person is suffering from the following medical issues and is on medication for the same, then the  risk of contracting Salmonella by impairing the immune system increases- for eg: Malaria, Sickle cell disease, Organ Transplant, HIV, etc.
Salmonella infection usually isn't life-threatening but, in a certain group of population, the risk of life is there— especially infants, pregnant women, young children, older people, the person who has undergone an organ transplant, and people with weak immunity, the risk of life increases.
Prevention
Maintaining personal hygiene, particularly one should wash his/her hands thoroughly before consuming food especially during the journey. One should wash hands after the use of washrooms, especially in public places, handling raw meat, cleaning up the pets like birds and animals, etc.
Keep things separate in a refrigerator to avoid cross-contamination like raw meat, poultry, seafood should be stored separately.
Avoid eating raw eggs especially:Cookie dough, homemade ice cream that contains raw eggs should not be consumed.
Romhas was repatriated safely from Philippines hospital to India by a team of qualified doctor and nurse. The patient is undergoing treatment. This kind of service of deporting patient by air transport mode helps to save time which is critical in deciding the destiny of people at times.
